Vanillouise Naturals
My client’s original logo, crafted with Paint for her DIY skincare blog, was casual and crafty. As her brand grew into a successful skincare collection, she sought a cleaner, more recognizable design that still kept its playful charm.
Responsibility: Logo redesign, illustration
Former logo. Vanillouise Naturals
My client created her former logo. She had just started her DIY natural skin care blog. She used Paint and used handwritten fonts. She liked the crafty and casual look and it used to perfectly match the recreational purpose of Vanillouise.
Having evolved from DIY blog into a succesfull skin care collection. The old logo no longer represented the main focus of the brand. She was looking for something more clean and recognizable without losing the cute and playful feel.
Typography
Client was interested in a combination of serif and handwritten-liked font.
Here I came with several ideas that would fit in a natural cosmetic line. I played with composition and thickness in the font choices.
Composition & Illustration
With the chosen typography choice I illustrated flowers that looked liked the vanilla flower.
I played with thickness to give it depth.
The client asked incorporating dots in the design. This was optional.
Simplify
After reviewing the illustration, the client requested for the design to be more simple and less focussed on the vanilla flower.
Here I sketched some leaves in the shape of a “V” and took the first and third designs and created several versions.
Sans serif
During this process we slowly could see the image and knew what was pleasing to eye. Here we found out that sans serif gives off the right impression as to being simple and “cute”.
This was leading to the final design.
Final design
Made several iterations and was mindful to keep the lines flowing and to match the font with the roundness in the illustration.
Made a combination of a text and image logo. For example if the logo would be printed on small products such as lipbalm, illustration of the V could be used instead of the entire logo.
This is the final design.
